Alex Elisala (17 August 1992 – 29 April 2013) was a New Zealand-born rugby league player who represented Samoa.
Playing career
Elisala was a Logan Brothers junior before being signed to the North Queensland Cowboys. He started his Toyota Cup career for the Cowboys in 2010 as a winger/fullback before moving to hooker. Elisala played for the Queensland under-20 side in 2012.
He joined the Cowboys senior squad in 2013. He made his debut for Samoa on 20 April 2013.
Elisala was admitted to Mackay Base Hospital on 28 April, in unknown circumstances. His family flew from Brisbane to Mackay to be at his bedside, but Elisala died, aged 20, the following day after a decision was made to turn off his life support.
