González was born in Nayarit, Tepic, Mexico. He turned professional in Mexico in March 2007, and later won the WBC Youth World Super Bantamweight and the WBC (USNBC) Super Bantamweight titles. His better known victories included wins over Rico Ramos, Raúl Hirales, Giovanni Caro, Adrian Young, Héctor Velázquez, Caril Herrera, Manuel Aguilar, Wacharakrit Senahan and Carlos Fulgencio.

On February 1, 2014, González took on Jesus Galicia in a bout for the WBC Latino Silver featherweight championship at Foro Scotiabank (Scotiabank Forum) in the Polanco district of Mexico City, a bout that was televised across Mexico and Latin America by Televisa. Favored to win against the 12-7 Galicia, González was beaten by a knockout in the tenth round of the scheduled twelve-rounder and suffered severe brain damage. On February 3, González was pronounced dead in a Mexico City hospital at the age of twenty-three.
