In 1941, all the German colonists who were not yet exterminated by artificial made famine of 1921-22, purges of 1937-38, or either emigrated from Volga, were deported by Decree of Communist government to Siberia, Kazakhstan, and other remote regions because of their German heritage.

The formal decree came on August 28, 1941 which abolished the Autonomous Socialistic Soviet Republic of the Volga Germans. Exactly 174 years after its founding in August 1767, it was the end of life in Norka and other German settlements near Volga
