Johan J. van den Ende (The Netherlands, 06.08.1902 - 09.07.2002)
Chess player and chess composer of endgame studies.
He composed about 140 chess studies.
" He was born at Nisse near Goes in 1902
After his work as a candidate notary from 1926 to 1932 in Enschede, he returned to the province
of Zeeland, and was appointed notary in Zierikzee in 1934.
He was in chess, champion of Zeeland six times.
When he became a study editor in 1933, this stimulated composing in the Netherlands.
He has been active as a composer more than sixty years, a unique feat in the Netherlands.
The great stength of his studies lies in the originality of his ideas."
Endgame study composing in the Netherlands and Flanders by Van Reek and Van Donk.
