Private Beaney was posted oversea's to France on May 31st, 1915.

James’s last known place of battle was in the trenches at “Ovillers-la-Boisselle” Somme regain, France, 07.08.1916, he was killed the next day while on cleaning up and rest duties at the wooden Military camp huts in Martinsart Wood by German shell fire.
