Born in Norwich England in 1912 Enlisted into the calvary of the line in 1934 transferred to B squadron war raised Regiments 24th Lancers in 1940. And promoted to sergeant. Sergeant S Norton was a sherman tank commander and was killed in action on the evening of the 17th June 1944 whilst attacking le parc de Boislonde about 1 mile north of fontenay-le-pesnel Normandy. His tank was hit by a high explosive round killing him but the rest of his crew all survived. Son to Charles Henry and Vestal Norton. Husband of Ivy Norton and Father to Barry Norton.
